Subject: Re: John Cowan et al and the Internet Archive
Diana,
I just wanted to let you know I spoke with John
Cowan's management last night and they gave permission
for John to be included in the archive project.
Permission was granted to me to notify you of our
interest and support by Paul Easton of Squire
Management on 2/8/2003. For more info on John's
taping policy, see
http://www.johncowan.com/tapers.html
Thanks!
Dirk Cota
JCB Archivist
(Side note: Dirk is also archivist for Jonell Mosser, and he says she is not yet really trade-friendly (still warming to trading community idea). She should not have a section here at this time. Thanks!)
Policy

John Cowan Band recording policy:
John is currently allowing both soundboard and audience recording.
For soundboard access:
get there early and talk to his soundman Matt Hitchcock when he has a free moment. He will give a single line out of his deck (coax digital or optical, or analog) to the first taper, then all other tapers need to form an orderly daisy chain from the first deck. Please do not bother him for separate feeds or anything that might detract from his responsibilities in preparing for the show.
For audience recording:
there is not normally a taper's section but please be conscientious of other concert goers and keep mic stands and other gear from obstructing the view of others or encroaching in any way on their space. If the venue does not allow taping, the band will comply with their wishes.
Please be prepared for the possibility that you may not be allowed to tape.
Please send a copy of the show on DAT or CD to the band archives.
Contact:
tnjazzgrassATyahooDOTcom to make arrangements.
If you submit a recording to the band archive you will receive a show from the archive in return.
